How long until you saw a woman looking back at you in the mirror or was she always there?
I started catching the occasional glimpse of "her" within days after my rebirth, but I still mostly saw "him" for several months. Then, on December 27, I stared into the mirror, into my eyes. I held my gaze for at least a minute. Then I smiled--genuinely smiled for what felt like the first time. Within that minute, "she" became "me."
I still catch the occasional glimpse of "him," but that's more a glimmer of my genderfluidity than dysphoria.

Whats the most pleasantly surprising thing youve found with your transition so far?
Oh wow, it's hard to pick just one thing. The whole experience has been wonderful, but two surprises stand out:
I have not encountered any adversity. I expected some negative reaction, especially since my presentation is quite mixed, but everyone I've met has been so wonderful.
My voice! I know hormones can't raise your voice, but mine has changed so much over the last six months it's like listening to a different person. You can hear the comparison on my blog; choose "Voice Changes" from the drop-down menu.
