How many words a day would you say each of you write a day on average? Obviously some days are slower or longer, but on a normal day when you do have the time and energy to write— what does that look like? curious from another writer because the amount you’re able to churn out is mind bogglingly impressive!!

i can't really give a number, because there is no average, really. even on days where we're wanting to write and the brain is working well, the end result varies a LOT. sometimes we sit down with the mentality of "i am going to write until it stops flowing" and sometimes it's "i'm going to write until i have finished this scene" and then other times it's "i am just going to tippy tap and hope i can get an okay amount down"

and on days where it's bad we will only get a few disjointed sentences down. sometimes that leads to us actually writing a bit, and sometimes it doesn't. i think both rara and i try to get 500 words down per session, but it's not always good to put that kind of goalpost up, because it can be freezing when you're just. not mentally up for it. it starts leading to an "all or nothing" mentality. so on those days i will look at a scene and think "do i have even a single thought for this scene" and usually i do, maybe a line of motion or dialogue or description, and i will write that down. sometimes 80 words is a win for the day.

usually i consider a session successful if by the end of it i have written 1 to 2k. if i check wordcount at the end and it's 900 words, i will try to eke out another 100 to hit that 1k mark. sometimes on good days we can get out more than that, but when we hit 3k, or 3.5k.... u can really feel the gears burning out.
