I'm not japanese but understand enough to probably tell you what jp fandom thinks, at least from what I've seen being in the fandom since 2022.
While pixie ranking and data is relative since it's based on how often artists would upload their creations to the website, you'd notice gjhm is the most popular m/f ship in jjk fandom. And the popularity can also be seen when it's time for con or doujinshi events. goyuu and gofushi would have the most booth/circle in the event and gjhm would get the most out of m/f ships in jjk and that says something about their popularity in jp fandom. Of course they're not as popular as m/m ships but jp gjhm shippers are quite dedicated as well and there are a lot who don't ship gjhm but like their dynamic.
when utahime wasn't included in merch, the forum i was in was enraged, you'd see some expressing it on twitter too but it was worse in the forum especially from jpn and korea.
it's definitely better on jp and kor side because if someone doesn't like the ship, you'd only see a few of them actually voicing it out by quote reposting gjhm shipper's tweet or art unlike the international side of the fandom and every week, you'd see fans wondering where she is.
when utahime appeared on chapter 223, she was trending for a while because fans missed her, we got to see her CT which is really beautiful and it proved some fans' theories, and that she appeared alongside gojo and used her CT to help him. It was a really great and fun day for utahime fans and gjhm shippers that even non shippers' yapping were drown out by how happy people are, even non-gjhm shippers because her ct is really beautiful and SHE was beautiful.

thank you for sharing this! it's great to get insight into the jp/kr fandoms' perspectives. it's really interesting to hear how popular gjhm is among the m/f ships in jjk and how dedicated the shippers are 🥹
the difference in how the ship is received and discussed in the jp/kr fandoms compared to the international side is really interesting. seems like there's a more respectful atmosphere there, unlike some places where antis just can't seem to keep their noses out of others' business
and the way gjhm consistently shows up in numbers during cons and doujinshi events needs to be studied imo. bc this really says something about their dynamic and appeal! and it makes me so happy that, despite the lack of official merchandise, the love for utahime and gjhm remains strong.
oh how i LOVE hearing about the positive reactions when utahime appeared in chapter 223. i hadn’t joined the fandom yet at that time, but seeing her trending and the excitement around her ct must have been such a rewarding experience for the fans 😭 aaa i wish i had joined earlier 💔
