I really don't get it. I have a friend who liked the chemistry of 2 🇹🇷 actors (👫🏻) and she shipped them. Keep tabs with what they did before being in a relationship and watching clues being pierced together about their relationship status. ("Oh they went together there", "oh they were seen leaving a party together" etc, things like this). And this was an example close to me, but I'm sure a lot of other celebrities from 🇺🇸 were under ppl eyes especially in tabloids. In l0v3 1sl@nd ppl literally root for ships. So why is suddenly a problem in kpp industry? Just because of the possibility of queer ppl? Bc this is just blatant homophobya. Also no one is telling those newspapers, shows and ppl to stop shipping some straight ppl bc they are uncomfortable or something.

you're absolutely right, shipping is a part of entertainment industries across the globe. they may not call it "shipping" in some places, but yes, tabloids often and dating shows wholly are focused on couplings and fans all over the world are engrossed in the relationships of public figures... it's actually very commonplace. but in kp0p and some other f4ndoms, we've seen that the second it's a same-gender pairing, some f4ns will cry "don't assume their sexuality!" as if they're not assuming those celebs are straight (plus acting as though "straight" is the default which is harmful and false). "stop shipping, they're real people!!" as if f4ns aren't dreaming up het y/n fantasies, "het" pairings, making those "if [x] was your boyfriend" threads 😵💫 and as if "straight" couples aren't sought to be revealed by tabloids.
you're correct, we don't usually see people telling media outlets to stop shipping "straight" ppl bc "they'll be uncomfortable!" and "you'll ruin their friendship!" it is 100% homophobia and it is very sad.
