Have you seen the chkchk boom TikToks? I think it’s interesting that all four of them have different vibes and styles almost, especially the seungin one is particularly chill in comparison. Do you have any thoughts?

You asked for my thoughts OP, you will get them. Perhaps in excess...

It really is so interesting how their dancing comes across to us when they're paired up! I think the impressions each combo sets on us varies so much per pairing it's really so fascinating! It also lies in how subtle they would change their individual dance styles to meet the stylistic middle ground of the other!

If we're thinking of a pair being on the same page, I would say HyunSung and MinBin are going for the same vibe. Meanwhile the pairs gunning for contrasting vibes are SeungIN/Vocalracha and ChanLix.

HyunSung have very agile and slithery movements that feels eye-catching in a way that their bodies are committed to more granular movement. Both Hyunjin and Han's take on the choreo sorta feels more intimate and titillating in terms of texture and angles. They dance like they are meant to be focused upon individually compared to the others because the details and intensity of their connection with the audience necessitate your full attention on either of them let you miss it.

On the other hand, MinBin's dancing feels so impactful that they're meant to ground the choreo's overall structure. They have big sweeping meaty movements that keep the song cohesive and faithful to the vibe of the music and the choreo's intent. The intent being, I don't know how to explain it in English, but in my local language it's something I would describe it as "angas". There's a sense of imposing vibe you get from both of them that you're suddenly beneath them and they're on a podium t-posing on you from how good they are. It feels like rightful pride. There's larger sweeping movements that feel complete with no shortcuts that connect solidly to the rest of the body.

ChanLix's vibe gives off a feeling of "bangis", or ferocity. I think they're both very expressive dancers and their tiktok pairing both polarizes the style they're going for and unites their intention. Felix has very dynamic dance lines, curving his limbs and body the way the others don't commit to in the same fluidity and makes it work. Felix always had some of the most appealing angles I've seen with his sense of balance between both style and structure. Meanwhile, Chan has a more rigid and wide body, and he knows how to angle his broadness and when to lean forward or back, knows to take advantage of his longer-than-average arms to maximize his presence. There's a famous phrase for Chan that often goes like, "He walks like he's 6"2." And honestly, he dances like that too!

For SeungYang/Vocalracha's pair dance, they feel like they are on the opposite ends of expressing the vibe of the song, but not so different that they disrupt the overall image. They found the best balance to keep things looking tidy but still unique. Seungmin keeps it seungtrademark clean. He does not make the biggest or fastest movements, but he is the most loyal to the form and the proper angles. Im in love with how he optimizes his body line by balancing his body weight distribution. One example in the video is that putting his leg way back behind him during the gun motion really helps establish the slick and clean silhouette he casts. Where he cannot compete in motion, he more than makes up for in form. Meanwhile, Jeongin makes the song his own with his natural sense of sensuality. I think Jeongin knows very well how to weaponize his head movements to add to the sharp impact that his whip-like movements have on beat.

Overall they have all greatly progressed in their foundational dancing skills and have all started (or are already optimizing) their dance styles without looking like they worry about fumbling about the basics. Gone are the days they have to strain to give off a certain vibe. They're at a level of dance mastery that they can consciously choose what they want to make the audience feel and do so accordingly and within the range of their physical affinities. They will only keep getting better.

Of course, seeing now the full choreography of CHK CHK Boom, I do fear that endurance will be a concern, especially if they put this track in a 3-song mix like they did for MANIAC tour with Thunderous-Domino-Gods Menu. But just like always, I know they will get through it kicking!

So....yes. Many thoughts, seunganon. Thank you for getting my gears turning again!
