ok i’ve had multiple people come to my inbox about this so i’ll try the best i can to explain without knowing who you are, but i promise it’s not meant as a personal slight! i softblock semi-often i guess bc unless someone has explicitly stated on their profile that they want a heads up, i assume my account and other accounts are generally fub-free. idk maybe that’s an unusual or incorrect perspective? but it just hasn’t occurred to me even when i’ve been softblocked myself that it would be considered rude.

i never do it for no reason. there are tons of possible reasons but often it’s simply bc i felt like the vibes are just not vibing/sometimes i softblock people who have approaches to fandom situations that i disagree with/i find out they often tweet disparagingly about things that bring me joy. i’m not saying they’re wrong to have those opinions! but i don’t necessarily want them on my tl all the time. i generally detect that it’s a mutual feeling when i sense a vibe shift, but if that wasn’t the case for you i am sorry.

i wouldn’t softblock someone i considered a close personal friend (or that i thought considered me one) that i was constantly talking to, but judging from how i’ve gotten some anons who seem to be upset, maybe i read those situations wrong or maybe we all have different views on certain internet etiquette and relationships. i might be more casual about some of this stuff than other people. not sure if that explanation helps at all, but i promise i don’t harbor ill will toward anyone i’ve softblocked (or else i would hard block) and again i’m sorry if i hurt any feelings here.
