I’m curious about your thoughts on how a modern au HBN would differ in terms of approach to CWN, since he doesn’t necessarily have the same things holding him back from making a move? I keep thinking about how he would react to seeing Mo Ran and Chu Wanning grow closer; if he would immediately make plans to interfere or hope for a blow up down the line to insert himself. I have such a hard time imaging him just being like, “Well, lost my shot with the man of my dreams…” ¯_(ツ)_/¯ “Guess I’ll just let Mo Ran have everything I want, that’s fine.”

Modern AU Hua Binan would be the worst and I truly mean that. His motivations with the BBBF in canon were one of his redeeming features but if you took that away, and still assumed that his fixation on Chu Wanning remained, he could be nightmarish. He was a very skilled manipulator and with Ranwan’s natural inclination towards miscommunication, I think he could engineer some pretty nasty misunderstandings between them. I think a lot would depend on exactly how bad his childhood was in this modern AU vs. in canon.

back in my 2ha phase but have u ever thought about how a heavenly rift au would go if chu wanning saved a different disciple instead of mo ran (same process with the steps tho) 😔

ooh, good question. it would definitely depend which disciple. if he saved xue meng it would confirm mo ran’s belief that the only disciple he cares about is xue meng, but mo ran would still be devastated and probably go to the underworld to try and save him. if chu wanning saved shi mei it would go against all of mo ran’s expectations and I think would provoke similar soul-searching to what happened in canon. I think it would also drastically alter 2.0 shi mei’s mentality as well. maybe he’d betray hua binan earlier than he did in canon.

Hello!! I'm a huge fan of your fics thank you so much for sharing them! I love reading Limerence a lot that I just keep re-reading the chapters over and over again, but I was wondering if you'll be able to.. maybe share more chapters (?)

there will be more chapters in the future! the fic is not abandoned, just paused. I already know I’ll be able to come back to it with a lot more enthusiasm
