atp i feel so frustrated at the epilogue for fumbling every aspect that mha discussed ever. Like i can understand if you want to make the already known to be ship canon but to make it happen like what 431 did…. I can understand if hori intentions was to shut down queer ppl but also you already have so much time before the epilogue to do so??? Even 429 was shit like we could had them two opens up but instead izuku continue to never opening up… up until 431 all hori did was to promote bkdk further even after the manga ended the art contest and gsony (i think that is their name?)art in them sakura petals THATS SCREAM LOVE and then after all that we had 431 and that’s what confuses me. Like wow hori even the art contest you are fujobaiting ppl😕😕 (sorry I’m rambling but I’m still so mad abt 431)
i understand your frustration, anon :( although i wouldn't really calling it fujobaiting, it still sucks that izuku and katsuki's relationship was lauded again and again, only for it to be implied that it wasn't special after all? or maybe it is (or was?) special, it's just that in this new phase of their lives, it's not the focus anymore.
and i agree. izuku and ochako's relationship wasn't as developed as with their rival/villain. i think horikoshi's aware of that, and that's why their conclusion is that they'll "talk more" (they'll hang out more -> deepen their relationship -> romance but this time built on steadier ground).
my gripe is WHY DOES THAT HAVE TO BE OFF-SCREEN? their relationship had little to no development until the final arc and this epilogue. they should have had more in all of the arcs!
this decision sabotages their individual characters and their other relationships.
i hate it. i hate it so much.

I just feel like it’s not healthy what some bkdks are doing I understand coping but it’s better to accept what is to be upset again later on when the fanbook and exhibition shows more explicit izch… not to mention after the anime is when he’ll post them more since 431 isn’t animated yet
sigh, same :( but you know what they say: though hope is frail, it's hard to kill.
right now, i'm just preparing for and expecting the worst. it'll be a big bonus if the fanbook and other later additions can patch up unaddressed issues, but i don't want to expect too highly of it. my heart won't be able to take it.
i'll just take the L, lol (ToT) there are so many stories out there, ones with more satisfying conclusions. i'll grieve this one for now, but i'll explore others.

ngl horikoshi fumbled having deku vs muscular 2 instead deku vs toga himiko in the dark deku arc.....................imagine the interesting conversation they would have had if deku wasn't preoccupied with getting back to kacchan and the others like he was in the final war arc

A moot/someone I follow already said this, but (at least, in the beginning... Ever since 431 dropped, I don't know anymore lol) Horikoshi shows his (or the MHA universe's) definition of love through Izuku and Himiko.
In Himiko, through her words. Izuku, through his actions.
The way Himiko describes love can be seen in how Izuku does things.
Himiko once described loving someone as admiring who they are and imitating those things you admire about them. Izuku does just that by copying All Might... and Katsuki.

i'm sorry but why you defend deku? what he did to katsuki is bad, he deserved better!
I don't think we should focus on whether what he did was 'good' or 'bad'—because it's neither.
To preface this:
I don't agree with this choice either. I don't like that Horikoshi chose this as Izuku's conclusion. It's good in theory, but the execution is questionable. I think that it abandoned the themes of the story.
To my actual answer:
Izuku isn't obligated to say yes to Katsuki's proposal to join his agency. He is within his rights to say no.
The war left Izuku with unresolved traumas (another one of my problems with the writing). It changed him fundamentally as a person, and thus his sense of heroism has changed.
Katsuki recognizes all of this and respects Izuku's decision.
A lot of the fans' anger is misdirected. If anything, we should be upset at how things were written to play out, not Izuku himself. Again, Izuku has a lot of unresolved traumas, hell he called himself a murderer in the last 5 chapters. Does that seem like a person who'll feel 'deserving' of being a full-time Pro Hero again?
The extra chapter fucked everyone over. Izuku, Katsuki, and hell, even Ochako.
Why do we as a fandom always extend grace to Katsuki, but never to Izuku?
