Hi, I was wondering what your reasoning is for only giving writers 1-1.5k of words to work with? If you say it's a matter of space, you are allowing multiple artists to do multiple page spreads/comics. Most zines ask writers to write 2-2.5k words and almost halving this, personally I find it very insulting to writers everywhere. It kinda shows a disregard for writers and a preference for pretty pictures, especially when the artist to writer ratio looks to be about 6:1 :/ I just want to know if you're going to consider allowing writers the ability to write more.

Hello! We are SO sorry for the delay!

One of the head mods (Lan) was locked out of Discord for a few weeks, and contact between mods was extremely limited! I have been swamped with Maker's Dozen, so taking the lead in their absence wasn't in the cards.

When it comes to number of contributors, writers to artists, all these numbers and wordcount are subject to change, as is our rules set post-Interest Check. We are looking at both possibilities for Digital-only versus Printed based on Interst Check results, and Digital-only offers us more flexibility regarding "space". Quite a few of the guidelines were provided based on another zine project, which does not mean it will fit perfectly within ours as we move along.

I am a writer myself and LOVE having high Writer representations in projects. Ultimately, the limitations come down to what the Writing Mod can handle proofing/betaing within a set timeframe before formatting begins. I've been in discussion with our Writing Mod in the past regarding increasing the number of writers, and we'll make sure to have specific details by the time applications open post-Interest Check. Please don't feel discouraged; we will welcome all levels of feedback in our Interest Check to build the project that YOU all want!
