Mariah respects her mother’s hard work and dedication to the company but is frustrated by how stubborn she is about sticking to traditions and placing more importance on her own wealth and the family’s status over the well-being of Pokémon and people. There is a tension between them- some may even see it as animosity- that never gets fully addressed. As for her father, she dislikes his flippant attitude toward people outside of his social circle, especially when dealing with staff at the places they visit; in general, Mariah maintains a superficial, respectful relationship with her parents so as not to stir up conflict within the family, but she almost never opens up to them.

Andre’s mother passed away when he was very young and he only ever met his father a couple times at that age. He wasn’t very fond of his mother before she died but she was his only family at the time, so as a kid he was lost without her. If he were to meet his father now, it would not go down well 😬
