Kanae's is definitely Haurchefaunt-- it literally took up until that last cutscene in the Vault for her to be like "oh maybe I don't find you too much to be around" and it broke her. She can't even face Edmont after it happens and Alphinaud had to do most of the verbal carrying.

W'htal... even now, after everything that's happened, he's still a person that tries not to dwell on the past, so there isn't really a death he's seen that changed him or anything like that. even with Haurchefaunt he was like "this sucks, but he saved my life. I need to get going."
