what kind of stuff do you like in web comics so that people could recommend you?

I read a lot of stuff can I can be pretty amicable to new things, but here's a few things that pique my interest right away.

  • Women characters that are leads or otherwise significantly important characters. It's not a deal breaker, but I'm more likely to read a webcomic if a woman, especially if there's more than one, is part of the core cast. Women combatants, especially.

  • Modern/Future settings are my preference. It can be Science Fiction/Science Fantasy/or even some fantasy but I prefer things modern. I can/have read some more low tech and even 'high' fantasy but I'm extremely picky because I don't like Tolkien-esque stuff. (stuff like Guild Wars and The Witcher is some of my fave fantasy types) I get REALLY excited when I see inter-planetary stuff on the level of Mass Effect because that's so rare to find a good series where humans and aliens intermingle like a normal part of their lives.

  • Very strong understanding of characters and people. Most of my favorite media has strong characterizations and character arcs/interactions. Strong bonds, found families, redemption arcs, people learning to be people. When characters feel like people is what really keeps me around.

Things I probably won't read at all:
- Anything with a focus on vampires. I reallllly do not like vampires. Castlevania is about as much as I get, and that's because they lacked a lot of the tropes I hate about vampires and they weren't the focus.

  • Stuff where the cast is 98% men. I'm sure it's probably good but when I see a whole cast of all men and no women, I don't bother. I get enough of that with most mainstream media.

  • Most Romance focused stuff. I'm grey aromantic, unless there's other forms of character building, I'm pretty disinterested in that.

Some of my current favorite webcomics are Barbarous (on Johnny Wander), Backlash, Ava's Demon, 'Don't Worry, Teri Blokhin', Kagerou, Speak of the Devil, Oglaf (one of the few comedy/gag comics I read), I need to catch up with Robots and Racks.

And some of my favorite media is Gargoyles, Avatar: the Last Airbender, the Doom series, Warframe, Beast Wars, Venture Brothers, Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles, She-Ra: Princess of Power, Young Justice, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Horizon: Zero Dawn, just to name a few to hopefully get an idea of how much of a range I like.
