Hello, saw a page on AO3,https://archiveofourown.org/users/ladylibido/profile. Is this you?
Hi, I have a question, do you accept recommendations for maybe Sci-Fi Book Series? One I could recommend to you not because it might be a thing but because it kind of reminds me of some of the stuff you make. It's called the foreigner series by C. J. Cherryh, it's like a 21 book series with a 22 coming out this October of this year, to sum up what it is about it asks a question, what if a bunch of humans loose a colonization attempt to the aliens that were in the victorian area? This is the setting for a characters adventures of Bren Cameron, the human ambassador who has to navitate the social and political situation of the atevi. Irs described as . It has deception, aliens , action and it is surprisingly aromatic friendly . The cons are definitely the amount of books and since I have no idea what your situation is you might want to ether use Overdrive/Libby if you have a good library card that's for a well funded library then reading the books could save you space on your bookshelf then the price because these books are long running and old sp there is a bunch of inexpensive copies or just getting the audio books if you can, the second con is that it is that the only thing that may not be interesting to you is the fact that the aliens do not look interesting to you is that they are Kind of boring in physical design, at least what the TV tropes page can describe but it kind of makes up for that fact with why the aliens are written, I mean it's a little outdated but is still in a way that it is believable and cool. The third con is that there may not be alot of women but they are strong in personality and strength, one is Jago Assassin and bodyguard of bren who is just wonderful and the other main lady is ilisidi, she is a combo of badass, scary and really funny. The 4 con is that the first book is not the best in the series and tries really too hard to stuff as much stuff in a book as it can. The reviews I could suggest to you to read is this one from good reads ( https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1099763906 ) , episode 17 of a podcast called "Read The F***King Book" and this article that in a website with a bunch of praise for the series ( https://dianthaa.com/2022/04/07/foreigner-by-c-j-cherryh/ ) in case I don't do it justice with what I am saying. I also don't blame you if you have to time to read those books as another con as well like I can do as well ( I made a freaking side blog where I post my current atempt to write about what i feel about the books on a tumblr side blog ( https://fansideblogtocjcherryth.tumblr.com/post/729356505784172544/short-abouttags ) Thank you for the time to read this
is there any topics and concepts that you would like to explore with your Ocs if you could?
quick question about Udaesnmocris and Sikarien. what do you think it was like when they were together for the fist time with the BDSM thing? what do you thing think was Sikarien moment where he was "I like this, I like this a lot"
So, Sikarien was already getting into being a sub before meeting Udaesnmocris, which is what was hinted at in his proflle. To quote it directly:
"His cybernetic limbs were the result of an accident in extremely risk-taking behavior that left the lower half of his body crushed and unable to be repaired, requiring a whole restructure of his body from the ribs down. Not long thereafter he decided he shouldn't be the one to make the decisions in his life and experimented with being a non-sexual submissive, and in time realized he found more calm and fulfillment taking orders than he did risk-taking, eventually settling to live with Udaesnmocris. The visor was a voluntary procedure he had installed of his own volition."
Thinking on it, I feel like it might have started as a joke, some friend telling him he shouldn't make decisions for himself anymore because he was going to get himself killed. Which he found himself thinking about more seriously than he expected. So he participates in the scene, runs into Udaesnmocris, and things clicked.

is there anything interesting you can tell us about Q'ymot?
what do you think Udaesnmocris BDSM (is that a term? like as an sexual) awakening for him, if that was even possible?
Honestly, I'm not entirely sure. I always get the sense that he's more than a bit of a control freak just in general. I've tried to think of what his day job is and I keep looping back to accounting, so rigidity and putting things into place is just his Deal and it might have just been a natural progression of things in his life.
is there some things you can tell us about your oc Galeas Kingston?
what are robots and cyborgs are like in your world that you would feel comfortable talking about?
I am MORE than happy to discuss robots and cyborgs in my setting, or really anything else. I guess since this is a really broad question I'll give a rundown of both in the context of the federal expanse specifically. It is effectively the 'federation' of the setting.
Robots have a wide variation in my setting. They can range from simple automatons with routine functions, to fully, legally sentient AI. I like to borrow the divide Mass Effect uses, VI & AI. Virtual Intelligence a system with fixed perimeters and Artificial Intelligence as anything that is considered adaptive or learning. That being said, not all AI are classified as legally sentient, certain traits have to be met to be considered fully autonomously sentient and given true citizen status. It's something similar to a turning test but can vary depending on extraneous circumstances. Sentient robots aren't particularly uncommon, but I wouldn't say they're common, either. Generally speaking, sentient AI and robots by extension, is a rather accepted concept.
Also this is more of the broad strokes of the idea, some planets and territories are much more restrictive to AI and what constitutes AI, than others. Wojciech for example, even though he is classified sentient by the federal expanse, some planets or territories will not honor his classification even if they're part of the expanse, as each planet is allowed to govern this aspect in on their own accord. If he were to be in one of these places, they would regard him with the same rules and restrictions they apply to any other robotic hardware.
Cyborg in a legal context is a term used to refer to any person with a prosthetic that require direct nerve integration. Current technology permits for some pretty advanced prosthetic integration from simple limb replacements to complex limb replacements with touch and sensation, from synthetic organs to full body prosthetics. There is a classification and clearance system for different forms of prosthetics, from average performance to high and unnatural performance. Typically the average person will not be able to buy something beyond the level exceptional natural performance. Access to prosthetics that provide unnatural performance or hide weapons are typically locked to those with the right clearance or those that know how to buy through less official channels. Most of the restriction is on the parts themselves, but not on the operations. If you already have the questionably legal part in your hand, you can get it installed at any reputable hospital. But there's always a risk they could report it if they know what they're installing. Of course there's always going outside the expanse to get work done.
For full body cyborgs, there is a special unique Bio-Registry that they are required to participate in if they're in one of the territories belonging to the federal expanse. The Bio-Registry is a database that contains extensive physical, biological, and historical information about the body before it underwent the transplant process. This is accomplished in the form of an exhaustive physical and harvesting of any and all biological tissue samples. It's purpose is two fold - to provide any possible medical information there could be if there are complications with the brain or other remaining organs, and to prevent full body cyborgs from escaping criminal charges should that arise after the fact. It is of course, a highly controversial practice but still one largely regarded as necessary. Some places outside the federal expanse practice something similar, and some don't at all and many will travel outside the expanse to keep their privacy. R'Vindr was one of those that went outside the system to ensure his past was inaccessible.
what do you think the aliens react to humans in your alien world? are they rare or have there been some humans around the aliens enough to not care?
Depends entirely on the alien! I have, multiple alien species, and their interaction with humans varies from each species. (and of course, all aliens themselves are different) Some have been long since adapted to humans, some are newer to the intergalactic fold and have interacted with them less. Humans are not particularly rare, nor do they take a majority in the populous of the connected planets/stations. (though as a side note, my current role of humans aren't as significantly prude as we are now, but they do still culturally try to keep sex separate from the public and this does play a role)
Vazaroust's species, Rnjaut, is a little more secluded. He's unusually involved in other aliens much more than most others of his species. They don't have a lot of intergalactic presence due to a combination of personal preference, and complicated adaptation. (Vazaroust has to have most his skin covered if he's out in the sun on most planets, as his home planet doesn't have near the same level of UV exposure as, say, Earth does) They tend to keep to their own species or other blind species due to their being more in-common with communication styles. Humans aren't regarded with any specific difference to others for the most part, they kinda all get thrown into the same pot of 'small, sighted species.'
The Gesierdre species is one I haven't drawn much but I've developed a bit. They operate on an extreme sex difference, multiple males per one female, the female giving birth to hundreds. So all other species that have single pair are either extremely confusing or extremely fascinating to them, Humans included. Most of what makes intergalactic travel are the males of the Gesierdre, so their interactions with humans tend to be uniquely one-sided. A lot of them appreciate Human's tendency to have a high sexual appetite as they make for compatible partners when they're not at home for the breeding season. They don't appreciate some Human's tendencies to be clingy and apply human-style coupling off relationships with them. They also don't really understand the function of human sexual attraction. Because they specific 'sex for pleasure' and 'sex for reproduction' cycles they don't get any species that is able to do both. And this is before even getting into how humans everything functions in contrast to their own. But this would also apply to any other species that doesn't have the same sort of colony reproduction structure they have.
Tevejya's species is still getting felt out and I think they don't regard humans as being particularly remarkable in any way. And I'm still developing Udaesnmocris and Sikarien's species.
And then I have all these unnamed species.
One is a largely sexually open species, sex and intimacy is wrapped up in their media and their culture, they don't have the same need to hide it like humans do and find the fact that humans are so hellbent on having sex in only certain designated areas, very strange. They understand general politeness and consent, they just never developed that tendency of obfuscating when sex is on the table. They also don't really communicate via facial expressions, they're much more action/touch/vocalization oriented so there tends to be a disconnect in grasping human facial expression based communication.
Another species had the side effect of, due to their location and placement in the system, ended up getting some human transmissions and broadcasts that had some influence on their culture, but not and overwhelming amount. So they bare some similarities but most their species is matriarchal and egg-laying so they don't have the same sort of family structure.
And another species I'm deliberately obscuring for Reasons, spent a great deal of time with humans, centuries, so they have the most complicated relationship to them along with personal resentments because of past conflicts with the humans. They are frustrated by some more narrow elements of humans, their perceived entitled-ness, their obsession with requiring clothing and covering even after all these years. But they also find human's smallness and softness compared to themselves, novel.
There's a lot going on and it's really difficult to be brief about everything so if you have any specific questions feel free to ask, or even DM me.
what kind of stuff do you like in web comics so that people could recommend you?
I read a lot of stuff can I can be pretty amicable to new things, but here's a few things that pique my interest right away.
Women characters that are leads or otherwise significantly important characters. It's not a deal breaker, but I'm more likely to read a webcomic if a woman, especially if there's more than one, is part of the core cast. Women combatants, especially.
Modern/Future settings are my preference. It can be Science Fiction/Science Fantasy/or even some fantasy but I prefer things modern. I can/have read some more low tech and even 'high' fantasy but I'm extremely picky because I don't like Tolkien-esque stuff. (stuff like Guild Wars and The Witcher is some of my fave fantasy types) I get REALLY excited when I see inter-planetary stuff on the level of Mass Effect because that's so rare to find a good series where humans and aliens intermingle like a normal part of their lives.
Very strong understanding of characters and people. Most of my favorite media has strong characterizations and character arcs/interactions. Strong bonds, found families, redemption arcs, people learning to be people. When characters feel like people is what really keeps me around.
Things I probably won't read at all:
- Anything with a focus on vampires. I reallllly do not like vampires. Castlevania is about as much as I get, and that's because they lacked a lot of the tropes I hate about vampires and they weren't the focus.
Stuff where the cast is 98% men. I'm sure it's probably good but when I see a whole cast of all men and no women, I don't bother. I get enough of that with most mainstream media.
Most Romance focused stuff. I'm grey aromantic, unless there's other forms of character building, I'm pretty disinterested in that.
Some of my current favorite webcomics are Barbarous (on Johnny Wander), Backlash, Ava's Demon, 'Don't Worry, Teri Blokhin', Kagerou, Speak of the Devil, Oglaf (one of the few comedy/gag comics I read), I need to catch up with Robots and Racks.
And some of my favorite media is Gargoyles, Avatar: the Last Airbender, the Doom series, Warframe, Beast Wars, Venture Brothers, Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles, She-Ra: Princess of Power, Young Justice, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Horizon: Zero Dawn, just to name a few to hopefully get an idea of how much of a range I like.
I have a question, where did you get the inspiration for the character udaesnmocris ?
Funny thing, Udasenmocris was a character that was intentionally designed off of and inspired by the classic Arch-Vile from Doom 2. Some additional context to this: He was made after I had made Sikarien who was similarly inspired by the Cyberdemon of the original Doom game. Both the Cyberdemon and Arch-Vile rank as some of my first monster type interests so I felt it appropriate to pay homage to that in a couple of characters.
