What's a piece of long-form media (book, visual novel, TV show, comic, manga, LP, anime) that's left a lasting impression on you? Feel free to elaborate and go into detail.

Code Lyoko, a French cartoon. I watched it in the morning in a kids show 15 years ago, and I was allowed to mess around unsupervised on the family computer so I joined a few forums of fans of that cartoon. I saw someone making a very simple "simulator" of the supercomputer in the show in Batch and that made me learn batch to create my own. I posted my own version and two people became my beta testers. One of them is my best friend now and I moved to the other side of the country to live close to him. He taught me to code until I started learning on my own, and that's how I became a developer. I'm still occasionally in touch with the other, and we met IRL too a few years ago. I have no idea what my life could possibly have been if I had never stumbled upon code lyoko...
