What do you think about brutalism?

Understandably underrated. There are some good examples of brutalism out there, some beautiful, attractive buildings, but most people associate brutalism with the worse examples, when this style was stripped of its ideas just to become a convenient way to save money on construction. You mean we can call the building brutalist and get away with not painting it or decorating it? Let's go!

Unfortunately, this poor view of brutalism means we encourage demolishing every brutalist building, including the ones that are actually good. The history of brutalism, its context, its leaders and critics is quite important to understand the origins of today's social issues, and to learn what to do and what not to do in urbanism and architecture. Demolishing the actual buildings will make this history less accessible.
