i think i kinda understand what you mean about feeling one way about fandom content and another about jaywon lol. theyre actually one of my fav ships in enha, but i feel like fans dont really capture their dynamic all that well in jywon centered fics? not to rant in your retrosprings or point fingers at writers bc genuinely, i appreciate any time someone spends writing about them, but sometimes i cant help but wince at the character tropes people kinda….. shoehorn jay and jungwon in? of course, people are complex and writing is even more so, and sometimes creative sacrifices have to be made (read: leaving out or minimizing certain traits we see in a member bc that might not fit the character plot you have set out for a fic). and there’s the pesky addition of people’s perceptions of the members being so different — like, i find jungwon to be playful as much as he is blunt, while also holding an air of seriousness when the time calls for it. meanwhile, jay is someone i see as a yapper, a little bit of a nerd, outwardly kind, and a little bit of a cool guy (or a guy only /trying/ to be cool. either way it works on me lol) and other people might think differently!!! which theyre allowed to!!! because at the end of the day, none of us actually personally know the members!!! and sometimes i find it really hard to find fics that dont lean into the ‘jungwon pretty boy x jay domineering alpha male’ trope…. either way rant over. just wanna say i um appreciate ur fic… and if this was completely inappropriate im truly sorry (please forgive me jaywon writing friends!)
