I love all insects and bugs but my favorite are lepidopterans, especially moths!! They’re usually not as beloved as butterflies but I think they’re absolutely adorable..

I really love how soft and cuddly some species can appear, try looking up Macroglossum stellatarum (hummingbird hawkmoths) that look like hummingbirds or Dryocampa rubicunda (rosy maple moths) that have cute, bright colors and a fuzzy thorax that almost looks like a puffball,, there’s just so many variations, so much diversity with these little guys and it’s amazing.. these types of moths also help me get people to be less afraid of bugs as a whole; they can serve as a sort of stepping stone for those who might not like insects, since there can be a learned fear of them.

I remember my kindergarten class raising some caterpillars and watching them transform.. the concept of metamorphosis is so beautiful to me and really sparked my interest as a child :’) setting those little butterflies free was so bittersweet and wonderful; I love all animals and bugs are an incredibly underrated species to be cherished <3
