i’ve played it twice i believe! i enjoyed it a lot (& think it is in many ways superior to wktd) but for the meantime my heart simply prefers wktd … i think bc wktd is a lot more adolescent than hwbm and my tastes are more juvenile (and also i was 16 when i first played them both)

the primary issue is pacing imo; all my biggest complaints—sublots being too condensed and too divergent, character beats being hurried w/out the proper anticipation and marination they had in s1, digression from the main conflict, cheap writing tactics, overuse of montages where actual scenes are necessary—would not exist if the show had at least one more season

i assume u dropped it at arc 23 ? if u just don’t want to see the chicago wards they honestly do not last that long at all so i would say skip until 23.4 —> read up to both arc 24 interludes —> skip most of arc 25 until 25.5 or 25.6 (but imo arc 25 does have some good taylor moments that r worth braving) then ur good to go and no more chicago wards
