Since Canto VI presents a Heathcliff and Cathy who are generally more concerned for each other's well-being than the Heathcliff and Cathy of Wuthering Heights, what do you think the "So you don't want him" line from young Cathy is supposed to achieve for her characterization?
Since she seems like a blend of gen 1 and gen 2 Cathy from WH, I understand her being less of a toxic figure, but I feel like her characterization is a bit contradictory in places...I am curious about your thoughts
? There's no contradiction. She's not like, a better person, she just genuinely loves Heathcliff. That doesn't make her good. "So you don't want him" means she viewed Hindley's rejection as permission to keep Heathcliff for herself. She compliments Linton on his dedication to her and her alone. Heathcliff is repeatedly compared to a dog to outline the contradiction between being treated like a feral animal and a beloved family pet.
The issue is that because she's so self-obsessed she believes herself to be the centre of everything going wrong. Because she's the main character of the universe - as evidenced by all the people she cares about the most that laud how sublime she is - she believes that she alone has the autonomy required to cause infinite suffering. Nothing is ever anyone else's fault, because their impact on the world (HER world) is too shallow to cause the kind of devastation SHE could. It didn't even occur to her that Hermann might be cooking up something bad, because she didn't view her with enough depth to predict that she had machinations of her own. This is a mindset common in teenage histrionics and in such a melodramatic storyline I find it a great choice for her.

Do u think the reason Rodya was the one like 'don't get him to repeat himself' (paraphrased) about Vergie at the start of Canto 6 was because she's gone through something similar. Y'know with the whole hiding away their feelings and putting on a demeanor to keep others at arms length whilst they stew in their guilt over their own actions thing? I feel her being willing to bring the mood down more recently is a reflection/inversion of Vergie bringing it up (in his way). Being more honest abt herself. Anyways
God you're right you're RIGHT...We last saw her downer attitude when she was at her most vulnerable in Canto II. So her being more miserable is actually kind of a sign we're getting closer just like with Verg and Heathcliff <3 can't wait for Intervallo 6.5-I i need to see her open up and have hijinks

MY Heathcliff hmmmmm. DANTE is the only one who can remember and acknowledge the person who is most important to him hmmmmmmm. Ticking guiding him to the right path HMMMMM???
All of this is more Dante taking possession of their sinners & being more efficient in-story but also the Heathdante goes crazy. Dante used to talk about how Heathcliff did nothing but insult them. They've earned his trust 🥺

I love your au so much! I was wondering if you plan to include the 7th div members in it? I think it'd be fun if Mukai was added to the single parent list. Also I think child sakurai would be such a menace.
The 7th Division ... :) I was thinking of how they'd fit in with the new "gang violence" Teru-Claw setting merge. It's possible they really are those who went against Touchirou and failed, just as a gang that already existed... I'd also have to age up the awakening lab to give Mogami something to rescue 🤔
