Hello there! That does depend on what you mean by "less plot relevant characters", but the only characters who were taken by guests were the ones who were publicly announced. Other missing names you see may be taken by members of our mod team, or not included in the project. Thank you for your question!

Pinch hitters will be selected from the applications, and may be contacted about possible openings before December 15th. Applicants who clear our review process, but aren't selected as contributors, will remain in consideration if they have indicated interest in being a pinch-hitter. In the event that a spot opens up for one of the applicant's selected characters, they'll receive a follow-up email with an offer to create for the available character. This may happen at any point between September 2nd and December 15th!

Our mod team will design the iconography for the minor arcana in an effort to create a cohesive feeling for the project. The numbered minor arcana cards will be formatted like the ones seen in-game (the symbols will repeat, similar to a playing card). We will also be sharing those designs with the team during the creation period so that participants have an opportunity to provide their thoughts.

Regarding depictions and characterization, details from story events that have taken place before or during the timeframe of the Journey and the Answer is allowed (more specifically, anything that occurs in the story prior to April 2010). Any information from the stageplays and manga that falls under this category can be considered when creating your piece! You'll also be able to submit multiple pitches for your character as well, and the mods will work with you to make sure that your contribution still fits within the themes and scope of the project.

Ideally, we'll have a total of around 50 contributing artists: 1 artist per character (47 characters total), and 3-5 merch artists. So if you are interested in contributing (and especially if you'd like to show your love for some of those less popular characters) be sure to fill out an application!

Due to the scope of this project, there are currently no plans for spot artist collaborations for the Compendium. However, we are planning to create decorations and other embellishments for the pages, and will work with writers in this regard!

There are actually a few characters absent on both applications; by popular demand, we have contacted a handful of Guest Contributors who were requested during our interest check. Being that they are guests, we have allowed them to pick their characters prior to apps opening.

Yes, some arcana such as Fortune will have two cards: one for each character listed. This also means that the full count on the deck will be larger than a standard tarot deck, bringing the total to a whopping 87!
