curious since you’re a tk writer who has stanned since 2016, (i am too!) do you remember when writing switching was way more popular among tk writers? for the record i much prefer kv to anything else and it’s all I write, it’s just interesting to think about how writing switching was encouraged for a while, especially for longer fics, and some big writers on here kinda touted it as the “superior, anti-drama dynamic”, and now people kinda just stay in their respective dynamics corners and fics featuring switching have become way less common. just interesting to see how these trends change over time (this is not an instigating vk vs kv ask i promise, it’s just specifically about switch 😔)
YES LOL. the toxic positivity of the switching movement to not seem fetishistic specifically was hardcore ingrained in 2016/2017 fic circles to the point where, if you wrote more than one fic with someone topping but never had them switch, you were treated like a fetishizer 😭 i remember trying to plan all my fics with switching in mind or the most popular dynamic at the time just so no one would think i was a freak LOL. to be honest, i think while the bd debate is annoying & exhausting, at least no one is hiding their preferences anymore go avoid being dragged for it. for what it’s worth, i don’t think having preferences is wrong (& to reiterate, people often have preferences irl too lol) but i also think switching can be fun to read & write & i probably would still write switching fics if people didn’t get on my last nerve the last time it was mentioned LOL.
