sorry Im sure youre already done and over with this topic so ignore if you want. But I just wanted to say (before retrospring shuts down) Im glad to see someone who is so vocally in support of ppl being allowed to enjoy dark/toxic/not-tastefully depicted yuri. It makes me feel less crazy for liking this type of f/f when so many yuri fandom places seem so incessant on shutting anyone out who does enjoy that stuff. On one hand I agree the proship accounts who dismiss f/f are annoying. But then there are so many antis and tweets about how liking noncon, incest, age gap in yuri are all bad and I'm so tired of antis dominating these spaces. I want to find dead dove f/f accounts run by people who aren't edgelord bigots.
the way you sent this like 30 minutes before i saw a dumb post praising how yae/mizuki was finally a "nonproblematic ship" 😭😭 if you're not taking advantage of yae miko's personality to have her dubcon the other person in the ship a little, do you really like her?
anyway you know what i miss... webcliques/listings/even lj comms. because you know what we could do is just make a little collective network or closed community for this (ddne-friendly non-lesbophobic f/f shipper accounts) and be happy amongst each other. but these days, instead of world peace, you just rely on finding a needle in a haystack. WHY'S IT SO HARD.

I agree there's no nuance, there's people who don't know how to articulate why the fanservice in Genshin looks out of place. But the arguments "but a man has his shirt off so it's the same as a woman shaking her ass as she walks this is a double standard" sound like the arguments straight men often make, which is why seeing them from the feminist queer side is a sign of how much we regressed. Do people know these aren't real people? That men are objectified like women are?
(i assume you mean men AREN'T objectified like women and that was a typo, just saying here in case anyone notices lol)

THAT'S THE BIGGEST THING THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY. these aren't real women who made these choices for themselves. these are character design/story choices made by MEN. and i GET being sensitive about it if you've come to like the character but i think it's very possible to have a "i like this character despite it but i really wish they had done better for her" approach -- or even just plain ignore it! i do that. but actively trying to spin it as a feminist choice of a (fictional) woman and fighting back against any criticism of it is crazy. whatever choices were made were made FOR A REASON. use your brains 😭 😭
that said, this kind of argument has definitely been a problem with queer/liberal feminism for a while lol... the damage choice feminism has wrought goes so deep

Kitanai Kimi ga Ichiban Kawaii !!!!!!!!!! it's truly genuinely Bad Things with Bad End (zero heterosexuality tho don't worry) and at one point in the beginning you might be like "is this just torture porn" but then halfway through there's something that flips and makes it interesting.
WARNINGS IF YOU WANT THEM:
dubcon, abuse (emotional and physical), emeto, watersports, choking, murder/death... there might be a couple i'm missing but this gives you a good idea lol
akuma no riddle is one of my favorites, and it's more "messed up scenario that complicates the relationships" than actually like fucked up, but i still really love it.
i have a couple others on my to-read list that look promising, but i can't actually say how good they are yet:

What do you think about the discourse between female collectors and male collectors that is happening in genshin rn
it's exhausting and i'm pretending not to see it. like always, there's very little nuance between "if it has tits and breathes i'll call her a slut made by gooners for gooners" and "actually so many girls in high heels and tiny skirts are put there for FEMINISM and lesbian rights" and if i tried to interact with literally anyone about it my blood pressure would go through the roof. i assume that's the discourse you mean anyway

honestly, i call arashi she/her but it's basically because i don't want to get chewed up by fandom - personally i think they can be anything, because nothing is clearly stated and it's all up for interpretation... but fandumb has decided that this is the TRUTH and that the ENG translation of enstars has to skirt around the issue because there's no direct confirmation is TRANSPHOBIC and they should BURN and that is just tiring, really. i don't want to deal with that, so i just hide my own opinions
you're definitely not alone in doing this. i get it! but also wanna be like, that makes them think they're right!!! we need more people to resist 😭

hornets nest i know but the way the en enstars fandom has collectively hoodwinked itself into thinking arashi is awesome trans rep instead of a gnc gay dude needs to be studied
not just fandom itself but everyone! it's one thing to have an interpretation (obviously fine, there's many possible interpretations of characters - like while i see arashi as a gnc gay dude, and i think that's the intention in canon, i also think jp media often intentionally gives this Character Type a little bit of ambiguity, and eng fandoms just cannot handle that or different interpretations...) but it's crazy how basically anyone on the english side of twitter that even tangentially touches enstars fandom is convinced it's 100% canon Representation.
(although honorary mention to the ones who are like "yeah actually it's not canon but they're wrong so i'm going to harass the enstars twitter/customer support to fix it." like they're at least real with themselves but they still rank high for the bonkers follow-up. )
anyway. i think it's a widespread problem that fandoms value what they can label as "rep" more than characters (individually or as their Roles) and stories, but usually it's harmless and just annoying. but i don't think i've ever seen the level of misinformation spreading and harassment over it that engstars fandom has. it's insane

exactly like i don’t like zhngch but i can at least see that people back then had their interactions on the main archon quest and trailers and just ran with it??? and that’s how they became the most popular pairing: through mass delusion after 1.x was over. i know i sound like the bitter people who complain about fic numbers in fandoms but REALLY zhongxiao and chongqiu do have more chemistry and interactions than them…
maybe my real enemy is the genshin fandom’s bad taste
genshin fandom hit a home run with mondstadt (since as much as antis hate it, kluck IS the most popular ship there) and decided to not even try anywhere else 😭 😭 😭
zhongxiao is sooooo good and i'd love to blame people being unable to see past assigning parent dynamics on random characters, but it ranks lower even in cn fandom. there's just really no accounting for taste 😔 how do we begin to fight this enemy...

Is that band anime really a psychological horror though because I know the girls have to be cute enough to be marketed since unlike male idol games people don't want girls to be actually problematic
i haven't watched so i don't know the details. but i know one of the girls in mygo was considered actually kind of a toxic freak (soyo?) (to the point some fans actually disliked it/dislike shipping her with someone else) and ave mujica seems to take that up 100 levels. and some of the clips i've seen (tho i'm trying to avoid any major spoilers) do have a horror element to them for sure. is it on the scale of ensemble stars? i have no idea. is it the darkest story to date for an all-girl idol franchise? it definitely sounds like it.
i just wish the animation could do it more justice. 😭

As someone who's been watching Ave Mujica I can confirm it's a psychological horror story rather than just "girls in a band having fun," but you do need to watch Bandori Mygo first (which isn't horror but does at least have some good drama and one character who turns out to be pretty fucked-up).
