the thing with the yuri vs. yaoi monthly discussion is that it always starts with someone comparing numbers, and it’s actually so depressing to see lmfao, like this whole trend of treating all art and all fan creations as content to only consume and be criticized based on numbers in a tag is depressing…
sorry for the rant, but it also tends to discourage me as also a lesbian fic writer, am i wrong for enjoying this instead of that? once i publish the fic i want to create for a wlw pairing i love, will people actually like it because it’s gonna be nastier than just femmes holding hands? am i just another number in a tag that people next month will take a screenshot and scream YOU’RE ALL STUPID FUCKS WHO DON’T KNOW ANYTHING
you make suuuch a good point about it just being about numbers to consume to them... do they care about the quality of the fic in the tag at all? they clearly don't, if they think harassing or guilt-tripping people into writing is going to be good for femslash lol. THIS IS HOW WE ENDED UP WITH (BAD, OBVIOUSLY) CHATGPT YURI IN ONE FANDOM.
also i totally agree on the second part! like the people who have been nicest to me about my f/f have been other weirdo fujos. engtwt himejoshis are not really creating the most welcoming environment for lesbians into more "problematic" stuff.
