oh gosh it was over a year ago now but basically, there are advertising trucks in japan that are meant to lure young women who need money into sex work (these are often referred to as the Vanilla trucks/buses), and enstars had an advertising truck that riffed off of that truck's design and jingle. iirc it was just a one-off and not a whole campaign, but still pretty gross!! one of the vas also tweeted about it being funny. a lot of jp/kr fans were pissed off (kr fans especially lol) but altho the news eventually made it to eng fandom it seems like the outrage was a lot smaller. ultimately i obviously went back to the game but no more whaling for me.
