i saw an omegaverse fic where op was like "this isn't pro-life so be normal in the comments" and it literally had a pregnant omega who wanted to get an abortion + everyone around him telling him to reconsider + the father saying 'i have a say in this too' and it made me think about your omegaverse abortion post

(anon sent me the link to the fic in another ask)

oh boy this was a trip to skim through! honestly, i don't oppose the father's line because it's more like "i just wish i had known this was happening" than "you owe me a say in this decision," which, depending on the character, can be normal. and i think in the context of this being someone who is the last of his people, it can be a bit more complex/feelings more conflicted.

but everything else before that is awful. 1) a friend who is like "NO YOU DON'T WANT THIS" despite him being very upset about the pregnancy and immediately knowing he wants to abort, 2) the doctor going "YOU'RE IRRATIONAL RIGHT NOW" (a waiting period between the time of finding out you're pregnant and being allowed IS normal but a doctor should not be saying "think about if this is what you really want" to a patient who has already stated their wishes),

and THEN THE WORST PART is when he gets a lecture on how his "omega instincts" are going to fight him on this and it could kill him... not because the procedure itself is dangerous but just because he's going against his nature as a babymaker?? yeah, that is major pro-life propaganda.

given the author's notes i do believe they meant to present it neutrally and fairly. i don't think they thought "i need to show abortion is the wrong choice." but they really did absorb pro-life messaging and let it infect their story... you were definitely not reading too much into it.
