Are you up to date with Ni*ewaka? If you aren't don't read ahead........... but if you are up to date with it (spoilers) how do you feel about how the manga is pretty much setting up a Tokiyuki straight harem for the end? I really REALLY hate the idea and I'd rather that the author stick with one of the theories that (the real) Hojo Tokiyuki had been beheaded after being found out. I mean its possible author will just pull another AnsaKyou and leave any het ships forgotten and unfinished but I doubt it...
i am!

i def get anyone frustrated by it but after some consideration, while i'm annoyed any Feelings are there, it doesn't feel like straight harem to me. tokiyuki has shown 0 interest in girls and half his entourage is boys, too. the scene where ayako and shizuku discussed "SHARING" HIM had me rolling bc first i was like appalled and then i was like these are 12 year old girls plotting to share the little boy next to them who has no clue. 😭😭 their affection is mostly played for gags imo (though obviously they all do care deeply for each other, i don't doubt those feelings).
in terms of ending, if the author also did this with ansakyou that just strengthens my belief it will go unrequited. i think crushes are an extremely common and normal part of entering puberty; for a good author, that's not the same as actually establishing romance. so far, aside from some speculation and the supernatural elements, nigewaka has been extremely historically accurate. it has not avoided any of the historical deaths (MUCH TO MY DESPAIR). afaik there is no indication that the real hojo tokiyuki had a wife (or children) or anything. my hope is that the manga doesn't actually show tokiyuki's beheading but i would not be surprised by it stopping literally right before that or something similar. i definitely don't think it's going to make up some happy ending since this is historical manga and that didn't happen.
ofc who knows, maybe i'm wrong bc last-minute romances are def a thing in shounen. but i do think his prior work is a prob a good indication, plus the fact that this is historical manga... so for now i am not going to let it bother me!
