so just to be sure - if a fic is [ship]centric but still ot8, is that allowed? for example i’m working on one that’s omegaverse and so they’re a pack and all sexually involved, maybe even all romantically involved on some level, but they also gravitate towards certain members (have a mate). i know this is probably too much detail but i just wanna explain how even though i might tag it as background ot8, it’s not only background… if that makes sense 😭 the relationships with each member will be explored to an extent from the main character’s pov, he just still has a mate.
My gut says yes and it’s mostly because you are putting a lot of consideration into how it works. Poly dynamics can vary greatly, so having omegaverse mates or primary partners is definitely a thing we know will be represented. We just want to avoid works being [ship]centric with a throwaway line of “and everyone else was there, too.” - ✨
poly relationships aren’t as cut and dry as “everyone is together with everyone all the time” people are going to gravitate more towards other people in a relationship. the only thing we want to avoid happening in this fest is “the four main pairings and then they’re somehow boyfriends that seem more like friends” - 💖
