Why do people often assume that fat people has high cholesterol levels? And anemia is related to thin people?

I'm really thin and with my cursed "diet", I wouldn't be surprised if my cholesterol levels are high. The thing is people assume there is always one cause for being over/under-weight but the truth is the human digestive/metabolic system is far more complex than that.
