i like buses! it’s mostly good experiences tbh. once when i was visiting san francisco in 2010, there was this giggling couple that got on the bus after me and they dropped a manual grinder on the floor of the bus, breaking open, and a TON of marijuana spilled out and went everywhere. i was so tense worrying that the bus would stop and they’d be arrested or something (i forgot that weed was legal in california at this time) and nobody even batted an eye; the woman just scolded the man and was like “omg pick it up!!! that’s expensive!!!” and he scrambled to recover as much of it as he could from the bus floor.

another time, i was riding the bus home (to where we were staying, i mean), and didn’t realize that this particular bus was going to go on break, so they pulled over with me and one or two others on the bus, turned off the lights, and ate their lunch from a plastic container. there was a hispanic man who had fallen asleep next to me, and i got a little worried being the only two on the bus with the lights out, so i moved quietly while he slept (he was truly out of it, snoring loudly but i wasn’t certain and i don’t like sitting next to people in general). nothing happened, the bus driver turned the lights back on and began driving again like nothing had happened at all. i was a bit late returning and got fussed at for that but it was fine. i don’t get why most americans don’t like public transit it seems great!
