I feel in order for me to understand Karl, I need to learn more of his backstory. Did UP actually confirm anything between him and Rachel? Because I've been looking everywhere and found nothing but theories. Now I'm just sitting here with my own theory and headcanons of how they came to meet, how their relationship turned stale, and how he got that scar on his eye. (btw, if you have your own theory plz let me hear it! I bet it's as interesting as all ur HCs of Karl combined :3 )
i would say it is confirmed that karl x rachel was a thing, even if briefly. in my own theory, rachels thing with karl was a brief blazing thing from her perspective, an escape from expectations of marriage with her fiance. she inevitably realized she couldnt really build an actual relationship with karl so ultimately she chose her fiance in the end. karl kills them both in some confrontation. that is my interpretation of events and what i think UPs intent was, it mightve changed over time but i believe this is whats conveyed in law of talos, and in CoN rachels fate is "up in the air" but i still firmly believe shes dead and karl killed her. theres some other theory floating around about how the pirates actually killed rachel but i think this undermines a bunch of themes with karl so i kinda hate it. its extremely important to me that karl kills rachel in my reading of his character, and makes the most sense with how he is presently.
