the way people try to justify hoyo whitewashing characters is always mindblowing to me tbh. “oh some people of this ethnicity can have pale skin!” or “oh this culture was historically colonized by white people in the past so it makes sense. diaspora” like, ok. now do you really think that was their intention or have we considered the possibility that they simply don’t like darker skin tones.
yeah it's really dumb. happened both in sumeru and natlan as well so you'd think things would change the second time but nah lol. when even charas like dehya candace and cyno are much lighter than they could be, well!
