hello! i was wondering if yamada also sprinkles in english words when he speaks in the manga like in the anime? i thought it was really cute when i was watching the anime and now i'm wondering if it's a new thing or something that might have gotten lost in translation x) tysm for your work in translating stl!!
what do you make of shima's question and his disappointment in mitsumi's answer?
we sometimes ask the people who love us what they see in us hoping that their answer will be something subtle and complicated beyond how we present ourselves, that there's something we haven't thought about, something more to us.
mitsumi values shima's kindess and consideration but he believes that he's self-serving and that there's not truth to a facade he only keeps up to respond to other's expectations. if mitsumi loves him because he's kind and considerate then surely he has managed to "trick" her into believing that he's a good person when he isn't, that she's bound to be desillusioned when she finds out what's beneath his easygoing facade. but what shima fails to understand is that his kindness is still kindness, regardless of how genuine he thinks it is. kindness is not a inherent trait but constant practice, an actual effort you make to care for others and make them comfortable. and shima makes that effort again and again, oblivious to how much it means to mitsumi, oblivious to how his kindness saves her
hello!! i was just wondering when you got into scanlation and like what your favorite parts of it are? for me the process is very time consuming but its always so rewarding in the end and id just love to hear some of your thoughts on the process!! thanks to you and everyone at tsubame club for bringing these stories to us!!!
hi!! i got into scanlation in 2021 for sukirofa : the chapters hadn't been translated for a few months so i decided to take matters in my own hands despite how little confidence i had into my ability to do it justice and did everything from cleaning and poor attempts at redrawing to translating and typesetting!! i was thankfully joined by the rest of tsubame club after those humbling 10 chapters that made me appreciate all the work that goes into scanlation even more (and that still humble me whenever i see those pages going around)
scanlation is definitely a time consuming process and some of the fandom culture surrounding it might make you feel like it's thankless work but i can't help but think of it as rewarding!! my favorite thing about it has to be that it is ultimately a labor of love, that wanting to connect people with stories is at the heart of it. i've always loved languages so all the brainstorming that goes into choosing the phrasing that gets the meaning across best is especially fun ; god, i've even come to think of the frustration of knowing that some nuances are bound to be lost in translation as something dear to me. tsubame club's translation and proofreading process involves a lot of those discussions (i can't think of a single sukirofa chapter where we didn't have at least one line to discuss at length) and it's definitely tough work but i always end up thinking about how wonderful it is to love a story this much, to dedicate your time to it and to be able to bring it to others
thank you so much for your kindness and for all the love you put in your scanlation too!!
hello!! when does the manga usually update? i've just gotten around into rereading stl and can't wait for the next chapter!
Hi, I struggled to understand something in the last skip and loafer chapter (59). Is the "big change" for Kazakami just about a different university or is it also about the program? At first i thought both the book from t-uni and k-uni were about humanities, but some people pointed out that they are a bit different
Hi there! The t-uni textbook was for humanities, while the k-uni textbook covers liberal arts, literature and education. I believe that the change itself is not the different university or program but Kazakami allowing himself to look into other options instead of only aiming for t-uni like it's expected of him!
Since t-uni is Toudai/Tokyo University, k-uni is likely to be Kyoudai/Kyoto University so there's also the geographic component and Kazakami possibly leaving Tokyo for university and distancing himself from his parents
Hello ! Where did you get the cover preview for vol 10 of Skip to loafer please ?
Hello, did Tsubame Club permanently drop Umi ga Hashiru End Roll?
hello! i was wondering what happened to your listography ;-; there was some good reading refs i saw one time and forgot to save it to read later (sorry if this was sudden btw u dont gotta answer if u dont want ><)
hi there!! not sure if this is what you had in mind but this is my list of manga recs for skip to loafer enjoyers that i previously shared : https://retrospring.net/@shinkanes/a/110643371411647626
if not, i've never had a listography and you might be confusing me with someone else 😭😭
Just a guess but OP might be talking about your list of manga recs for people who enjoy Skip & Loafer?
hi! where do you read skip to loafer? 🥹
hello!! the japanese chapters are available on comic days : https://comic-days.com/episode/10834108156642600786. for the unofficial translation, the team uploads to mangadex and bato as a backup so i recommend reading from one of these sources and supporting the official releases if accessible/affordable to you 💗
i also highly recommend joining the discord server for news, updates and a really fun time!! https://discord.gg/XHjFjdBrXg
hi where did you get your retrospring pfp from? thanks!
When are new chapters usually out? I'm a new reader and I noticed gaps between the release dates so I decided to ask you :)
chapters are usually released around the 23rd/24th monthly through afternoon. once there are enough chapters to be compiled into a volume (usually 6 chapters), sensei takes a one month break to rest and prepare for the volume release hence the gaps you noticed!! so the regular schedule usually looks like : 6 months of monthly chapters > one month break > 6 months of monthly chapters again etc..
hi imane! what other manga would you recommend for people who really enjoy skip to loafer?
hello!! if you enjoy skip and loafer, you will definitely enjoy one of those works (in no particular order) :
i also love recommending witch hat atelier, dungeon meshi and sousou no frieren to stl readers. they're very different in setting and themes but have the same emotionally charged storytelling and loving character writing as skip and loafer 🫶
