Hai guys! I have a long ass question that I want you all to think about. I'm not going to put this is a 'qotd' format, because I want thought out answers. I also ask you elaborate on the idea.

My question for you all is: What piece of media, fiction - non fiction, a poem, a movie a show or a book, do you think the media twisted so badly the original meaning has been lost?

Absolutely anything is accepted here: from politics to philosophies, to people to bands and groups. Anything.

people who mischaracterize stan from south park I'm so serious it get's me so mad.
People water him down to just an "alcoholic depressed boy" and it drives me nuts, he's NOT just that, he's much more. He's empathetic, but he also struggles with communication ( he's seen multiple times replying to his girlfriend Wendy with CHATgpt because he doesn't know how to communicate with her and her problems, and not knowing how to explain his own issues a few times ). But despite this, he is very empathetic towards animals.
People who portray him as a bully aren't really that smart I think. he’s not much of a fighter, we see that; unless its for something he personally stands with OR will actively fight for.
"stan is homophobic!!" he is NOTTT please shut up. Matt & trey confirmed if any of the kids were to be in the lgbtqia+ it WOULD be stanley, and he even said "Its okay to be gay" in " Big gay al's boat ride ( Season 1, Episode 4 ) ". People tend to view him as a sensitive one, but until he really starts to portray why people view him as just a depressed alcoholic, his emotions were genuinely in check and pretty healthy to viewers. Now skip to where he IS actually depressed, people even mischaractierize this some how? He is not JUST depressed to feel, depressed, he's genuinely sad about how old he's gotten and how just everything doesn't feel the same anymore. Stan is emotionally complex, as explained here. the tough thing about this is how others treat him, when stan was going through his highs and lows in depression, his best friend Kyle was super disregarding towards his emotions and breaks, instead of being there for him, he really just belittled him and left him in his darkest. An add on to his feelings his how he doesn't take breakups the best, but even MORE he doesn't get a good amount of support from his friends, or peers, or even family. He gets belittled and called a pussy or weak for showing emotions. He's such a complex character and there's so much more I can say but I think this is enough this took 30 minutes to type.
