Regarding Sasurai, one very interpretative/liberal translation could be
"counting [the] grains of [our] sound"
(prioritizing natural phrasing in english but losing a bit of accuracy/fidelity, similar to how YOASOBI songs are translated for english releases)
砂 = grains of sound (~sand); just implied (can't use gikun in english, so just utilize other language features/idioms of english)
寸 = counting [grains]; since the stronger vibe I get from 寸 is a [small] unit of measure rather than the act/process of measuring (e.g. 寸時 = brief moment)
奏 = [our] sound; loosely related since in the MyGO context performance is the expression of their sound
I'm partial to "counting grains of our sound" since it sounds too cold/mechanical without the "our". I also really like your "Sound-counted Performance" as a more faithful translation, and I would argue that the making up of terms is kinda fair game since that's also what MyGO does 😆
Other ideas:
counting the sands of our sound
our sound => performance, play, act music, band (?)
(sorry for the dump, it's just really cool how MyGO (ab)uses the language features if Japanese and how interesting/challenging it is to translate)
omg anon i love u for this don't apologize thank you so much. i really like this idea but i think what's stopping me from adopting it completely is the 奏 meaning live performance and the focus on the current moment and how they can only feel the things they feel performing live in that specific moment, so to turn it into sound kinda loses that.. but aside from that i really like the idea, i agree with the our being necessary!! i think counting the grains of our sound definitely sounds the best... i also like counting the sands of our performance. anyway thank you for ur thoughts i love them
