Like obviously actual gay twinks aren’t reinforcing patriarchal relationships but these fictional effeminate men paired with big hulking abusive hunks written by straight women absolutely are
https://x.com/meloncrab/status/1834104240723075562

i’m blocked by this person and thank god for it. i don’t know why you people keep sending me tweets along with ur asks as if some himejoshi thinkpiece is supposed to mean anything to me

what is with the assumption that these BL are even trying to be progressive. this is a female dominated industry; a lot of it is just women projecting their own femininity and frame of gendered dynamics and relationships onto these gay characters. and, sure, that doesn’t exist in a vacuum. it comes with its own implications but i do think very few are consciously trying to comment on something with this

i literally don’t know what or who you’re talking about. i have japanese mutuals who don’t use it, and i have japanese mutuals and follow japanese people who do. like. i’m not gonna pick the side you want me to just cause you’re mad about it lmao

dude calm down im a gay guy too, people just use baracel as in a guy that likes bara but is a little incel with it like the dudes that tell u if u dont like bara and just twinks u are not gay or that being into femenine guys is straight lol

Anonymous Coward · 1mo

“barafag” is baracel 🗣

Anonymous Coward · 1mo

Very funny that you think that using 腐 is ok when ur japanese oomf has the hashtag in her profile Idk maybe u are being dense

i do not care and never have i claimed to agree with or endorse all of my mutuals’ opinions. and i don’t know why i have to pretend like there is one singular opinion on this word either

So is the “I'm gay for you” plot more common than the characters being gay/bi/or not mentioning their sexuality in BL? I got curious with your tweet I dont read much manga tbh

i mean i think it's less common now. i remember growing up most of the BL i was reading from the 90s-00s had a lot of the "not gat, i just like you" characters but now i often see characters straight up saying theyre gay/bi which is nice

there are a good number of bl where they take viagra or have erectile dysfunction 👀

Its a combination of the stigma associated with yaoi/BL and xenophobia. Yaoi/BL is always tantamount to porn or a cookiecutter love story to these people, so when a manga has depth and substance beyond that then it cant be BL, even if the author themselves says that's what it is

How do you feel with the bara trope of fucking a straight guy? Is also very common like, turning the straight man into a “slut”
https://x.com/fujomoder/status/1841543723601297513

i dont care if its bitching. plotless porn is one thing i just don't like when im reading an actual story and they're offhandedly thinking "today might be the day he leave me for a woman" in every chapter when you know that's not gonna happen

Anonymous Coward · 2mo

Pls tell ne the name of that yaoi with the straight seme so i can avoid it

Anonymous Coward · 2mo

Plz give me your wisdom to stop getting angry at the topic section of yaoi manga on mangago.

Dude, I don't want to be annoying, but I'm from a similar country when it comes to marriage and it's not uncommon to be with someone for years and then they randomly tell you they're getting married. Many autobiographical manga by lesbian/gay authors talk about that, Seibetsu X is really sad. Rather than trying to make excuses or anything similar, I just want to say that it is a feeling that many of us can relate to.

i mean i know that and ive read similar autobiographies it's just a personal turn off in BL. and in a fictional setting, you already know character A isn't going to leave character B regardless so it just gets exhausting when that's the crux of every conflict

I promise this is the last question related to this, lol. But why is there always an emphasis on fujoshi communities being transphobic? I mean in the sense that I don't see daily posts saying that fans of danganronpa, one piece, persona, shojo, shonen etc. are transphobic (because there are. I mean, there is a transphobic part in every community) compared to fujoshis, where I see at least two posts a week

i mean, i do think there is a lot of unaddressed transphobia in fujo spaces. especially in how they tend to stereotype opposition as trans boys, but also it's easier to attack fujoshi if you paint them all as racist, homophobic, transphobic fetishizers

Anonymous Coward · 2mo

also why you think there isnt more trans bara?

just phallicism and transphobia. people often cant envision manly trans men, trans men topping, trans men being dominant, and this all stems from the reluctance or inability to categorize them as "real men"
