Thank you for the translation! Christmas really did come early! Merry Christmas if you celebrate and Happy Holidays if not :)
ahhh my b i didn't know north rhapsody was already translated! do you know where it is, by chance?
https://odorekijin.dreamwidth.org/21148.html by @/odorekijin
is there a chance we'd get to read north rhapsody by you 🥹 if it's a favorite
This isn't a request or anything but, if it's ok to ask, I was curious about what the mods favorite events are!
Recently, we really liked Rutile's White Day event! Our favorite writer is, well, "Undisclosed"--we're pretty sure Rutile White Day 24, Heathcliff Xmas 23, and Figaro's May 23 are all by the same Undisclosed writer. There's definitely other anonymous writers though, so it's a bit of guesswork.
For the entire lifespan of the game though... that's tough... I usually say North Rhapsody. Sen says, "this is a passion hobby," so you have to love it all.
on the subject of market research, i was curious & wondering what y'alls criteria for picking up a new card/event ? thank you guys for all your hard work on event translations too
The biggest factor is whether Owen and/or Mithra are in the event, since we like to translate for our favorites.
Otherwise, it's loosey goosey, but first we read the event, and if we like it, we talk about potentially adding it to the to-do list. In particular, we look for pain points that'd make the event less fun to work on, like pacing problems, or obnoxious or boring NPCs. One or two annoyances is whatever, but too many hurdles is a motivation killer. Otherwise, we like to look at whether there's "new" info or just something rarely seen, like Guren will have some Tiletta details, and the Lavender event had Faust doing his best to channel his dashing revolutionary self.
For cards, it's just what we've read recently ourselves. No real rhyme or reason.
the resent cat event please?? i forgot the name🥺
https://xuebingcode.dreamwidth.org/45025.html Another tler's done this one :)
Thank you for picking up the summer event, I owe you my life! And I wanted to ask if any of your half-finished events will be completed for posting? Sorry if this is rude, but I was curious. 🥹
Ironically, all the half-finished events are written by Gintani, and so is Guren/Summer 2024. The problem is that we try to preserve the style and energy of the original writer as much as possible, but Gintani's a style mismatch with our own writing styles. In a professional setting, we'd just tough it out, but for a hobby... it's really un-fun lol.
So tldr: it's not likely. We're going to finish up Guren since it's not got a translation yet, and we still talk about finishing Tanabata 2023 because it's easily our favorite Gintani event. For the future though, we plan on leaving Gintani events to other translators.
i have a confession... my dumb ass binge read like three events before i realised they were all from the same tler! 😭💀 bless the entire catalog of stuff you've treated us to and here's hoping there's many more!!!
Hi, we can't thank you enough for your translations! I'm curious, why the choice of any Italian words? Conoscete la lingua?
You're welcome! We don't actually speak any Italian ourselves. The Italian words really are part of the event titles since MHYK likes to incorporate foreign words into their event titles. Words that are in Japanese, we tl to English. Words in another language... well, we do our best to guess what the word is lol.
By coincidence, we just happened to have worked on events that used Italian words! Off the top of my head, there's other events like Bride '22 that used French (chéri) in title. We're just using what we think is the most appropriate word that matches the katakana (because tl can vary, and it's just our educated guess based on the event themes and motifs). For example, we used noce for walnut instead of noche for night in Vday '24 because the event logo and fruit artwork looks like a walnut, and there's nothing in the event about night.
tidbit: seems like Italian might be one of the most common foreign languages that the writers/c0ly picks for the titles
Beluga anon here, thanks for answering! Love all the thought and care you guys put into your tls 💓💓
How did you guys even figure out Beluga's name reference 🤣 I thought it would be the animal!
Tbh it's just lots of googling and a strong desire to NOT call a character Beluga lol. Sen was actually looking for what else it might be since the name's so specific it must be a reference to something (Belukha Mountain was a top contender for a while), until he found the short film and were like welp... it really is Beluga then!
i want to pick your brains /affectionate
Not an ask, but I wanted to say the new icon art looks really cute!!
Gosh thank you so much for your hard work!! A blessing for the whole fandom
