• reference official releases! particularly the ones with good typesetting, like kuma and sublime. ALSO reference comics too! blambot has a yt channel where they do lettering lives!

• look up tips and guides and stuff! here's the blog from comicraft and blambot's lettering tips (there's more under the "tips" drop-down menu)! quicksandscans also has a good resource page

• don't be afraid to ask for help!! actually, PLEASE ask for help. we really need to raise the bar on what's considered "average" within scanlation these days bc bro the bl scene is in shambles with how many shitty releases are there from often solo groups (and a certain big group). i mean, i also work solo most of the time but i take a lot of time making sure my stuff is presentable so PLEASEEEEE
