There's a few things that play into Malleanna's insecurity. Malleanna is the most like Lilia personality and looks wise. They have Lilia's red eyes and their horns are noticeably smaller than their sisters and Malleus'. Unlike Sierra, Malleanna shows more Bat fae traits than Dragon ones. Maleficia unintentionally plays favourites between the twins because Sierra reminds her so much of her daughter while Lilia unintentionally tries to restrict Malleanna because of his own fears his child will be judged for their Bat side. Once the family moves to the castle, many of the people living there that remember Maleanor often compare the twins because of how much Sierra resembles her Grandmother. All of that combined with the Royal Court making it clear they'd prefer Sierra as Heir Apparent causes Malleanna to have a lot of insecure moments about their place as a "Draconia".

It started as an idea to play around with with a friend that grew over time. Just loved the idea of them having twins from the start and decided to keep it that way after being reminded there were twins in the original Sleeping Beauty story. Since then it's something that been building more and more over time that I hope to do more with one day instead of small stuff here and there.
As for the names, I struggled for so long and then one day woke up in the middle of the night to write down "one of them needs to be named Malleanna" and fell back asleep. After that it was just researching types of Lily's since I wanted the other twin to be named after Lilia as well and finally settled on "Sierra".

Technically it was planned though it wasn't initially!
The way things go down is Malleus eventually having to find a doctor from the castle that both he and Lilia trust to keep quiet about this since they initially hide the pregnancy from others, especially Maleficia, and then after realizing it's twins they definitely keep quiet on it for safety reasons. But as Lilia gets bigger and since he's so small, it's decided he'll need a C-Section. I headcanon that most non Dragon fae pregnancies go on for around a year so that helps plan things out, though it is still a difficult process because of a fae natural instinct to recoil from their own blood being spilled.

I was actually just discussing this with a friend last few days! I have a version with my Twins AU, but putting that aside, I still think it will be strained and complicated. No matter what, you can't write off the fact Maleficia allowed Lilia to be banished twice over now. The first time you can say it was the grief of losing her only child, but then it happened again after Lilia was the reason Malleus was born. She then allowed their kingdoms history to be changed to the point the timelines didn't add up just to erase the fact of what Lilia did. Part of what made Malleus so furious was because of what Lilia went through, but also because his own grandmother allowed that to happen on top of lying to Malleus is whole life while doing it. It will be difficult to rebuild that trust again, but I do believe they will be able to. I do believe Maleficia does love Malleus like crazy. The fact she later allowed Lilia to come see Malleus when he did shows she was aware of Lilia's importance to Malleys. But she let her fears of losing her last connection to her daughter take hold for too long, and that hurt Malleus in the long run being sheltered the way he was and he wasn't even allowed to know why beyond that he lost his parents during the war.

✨COMMUNICATION✨ okay but in all seriousness, I think one of the positives to come out of this will be not taking their time together or what they have for granted. If Lilia does end up staying, Malleus now knows things will eventually come to an end sooner than he likes with Lilia. He can't just assume anymore Lilia will always be there when he needs him most. And likewise, Lilia now knows just how important he is to Malleus. He's not just someone that can walk away and Malleus will be okay afterwards. They have a very strong but still fragile bond that's one of the most important things they have in their lives. I can see them being closer after all this, but also more understanding so to speak? Malleus making sure Lilia doesn't push himself and doesn't keep things in and Lilia vice versa. Work on that codependency issue a bit better than just "k leaving now" "K I'll be okay (not)"

I'm hoping for multiple things but the main ones I'm hoping for is for Malleus and Lilia to actually TALK. I've mentioned it before, but I really hope things end with Malleus giving his own magic back to Lilia. It would tie together their relationship really well and Lilia getting something after everything he's given up in his life. Would love for Maleficia to show up. Like I know things will probably end with the students pissed at Malleus, but honestly I don't really care in the sense that. Malleus needs a reset. He needs a moment to just be allowed to feel and express those feelings to Lilia and his grandmother. Then he can restart to build relationships again. Malleus deserves truth from the ones he loves most and process that before making up to everyone else for the sleeping curse.
