are there any videos, threads or longer posts you’d recommend for diving deeper into revolutionary girl utena? i’m on my second rewatch, but i think i’m missing out on good analysis in order to enjoy it properly

of course!
i always tell people to start with this series of essays: the palace perspective: nanami kiryuu at the heart of the world -- it's essential reading to me...i can't stress that enough. it's a series of essays about sibling incest, the way it's handled in utena, and gendered abuse within the family unit, its manifestation on a larger scale, its cyclical nature, etc. i love the way it's structured and the way it articulates the show's core themes bluntly yet cautiously. you can access it here: https://web.archive.org/web/20220126221139/https://palaceperspective.tumblr.com/

if you're interested in dissections of the movie, a video I go back to regularly is "film cuts back | transfeminism in utena" from seebeee -- its quality lies not only in the analysis itself and information it provides but also the production and editing, i like how it feels like a documentary movie and it's done with a lot of passion and knowledge behind it. https://youtu.be/fJ-RANs0TH4?si=VTWxO1WvWdA1-Vvb

these are the only essays and videos i really go back to a lot but there are a lot of good video essays on youtube, even if I don't agree with everything they say, they bring interesting perspectives. there's this playlist [https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyKT0co9jZvRHZD8u-3YKCDydlp3N9UjX] that has some of them and I think I've seen them all at some point and I'm pretty sure they're all interesting and informative. also you prob know about jay scott and his really well structured website [https://satirist.org/essays/utena/] abt his interpretations of utena, I don't agree with some of the things he writes but I appreciate how detailed it gets.

i like this interpretation of "internal clock, municipal orrery" (the song from the akio duel, one of my favorites) https://ohtori.nu/analysis/08_caleb_internal_clock_explained.htm (i guess you could also comb this website through for more essays sorted into specific topics relating to rgu, they've been archiving them for years/decades; i haven't rly dug into it so i can't point you in any specific direction but yeah. if you've been around for a while you know abt ohtori.nu already)
