Hi!! I'm a new(er) toy house user who's only been following you for a few months,,, I've seen how beautiful your designs and color work are and I just wanted to ask how you mainly get inspo for coloring/markings or themes in general? I use moodboards but I always find myself struggling with things like markings or color layering and making it look nice,,,

honestly i design quite a bit without having a moodboard infront of me, i just like messing with colors, but my better designs mainly come from when i am using a moodboard, often i'll pick a few base colors from the moodboard directly so it matches and then start adding more that resonate with it, i like to start with the 2nd lightest color as base, and then put down my undertone, and then work on layering the 'base markings' (color blocks / large markings like stripes etc) , once im happy with those then ill move on to adding smaller markings around and tweaking the overall design
once im completely done with the actual marking placement i might then mess around with different color overlays, my fav one to do is pink overlays on brown designs bc it gives them a softer vibe, or orange on grey designs.

Wanna drop in and say I'm really glad I ended up joining your server over a year ago cuz the environment there has really helped boost my confidence in not only my work, but in myself. I'm always super anxious when joining new spaces, but the community there is absolutely wonderful & it's been so fun interacting with everyone on there (you included ofc).
As for a question, is there any specific theme/ themes you like working with when it comes to making designs? Or if there isn't a specific theme you like working with, are there any you personally struggle with? :0

personally i really enjoy edgy themes, black,greys,whites, anything that conveys a disconnect from reality or portrays intense sadness/something wrong.. idk something about trying to make a design that conveys this feeling i really enjoy trying to put it into a design, i love working on them.
i personally struggle mostly with colors i dont use a lot (greens/hot pink) usually, because i dont know how to pair them or make them flow well :D

other than that probably video game streamer, staying inside interacting with no one ftw, i cba living doing a job that i hate 90% of my waking hours, you only get one life so fuck the 'normal' , as long as i have enough money to live and be happy i dont need more than that, i dont need to build a fortune ill never see or get my name to a point where people will remember me, because im only living now and none of that shit matters.

Hello, I’m a small artist and I used to follow you on Instagram, yet I unfollowed your account since I get nervous and shy following popular artists. But I realise now that you’re a really cool person and I’m definitely going to be refollowing you. your kintsugi Dalmatian character design is by far one of my absolute favourites and the colors on that adopt go so well together. You’re really talented at making aesthetic adopts that look cool! I own a few of your character designs already and your character designs are always so cool and make me smile to see. I get shy when it comes to owning character adopts by popular artists, but the designs that I already own by you are definitely my faves and are very precious to me

hi pine :) i’ve been in the server for a little over a year now, and it’s been nice getting to know you! i’ve always been a bit scared of everyone because im younger and chatting anyway is hard for me, but i’ve met a lot of people and it has been a good experience!! i love your designs.
i wanted to ask, when/how did people start to recognize your amazing design ability and adopt your designs? it’s interesting to me to learn how big artists got big :)

honestly i dont really know 'when' because ive never felt like there was a big boom in activity, its more like a really really gradual slider over the past 7 years, but i mostly started off just spamming cheap base designs/adopts on deviantart and got as many designs out that i could, so people knew my name (kinda like spreading flyers irl?). i was young so i didnt care too much about underselling and spent literally all day posting adopts. i used to be obsessed over posting and trying to get all the numbers up but these days ive learnt that interacting and growing friends and community is way better for sales, and also benefits everyone involved instead of just me!

When I first met you, I was actually scared of you. But I quickly realized that that fear was really irrational. I was scared about talking in the discord because I don't really have social abilities, that and I really don't talk to people. Right now i really love your designs and love the discord.

I just super duper admire your art!! It has such a nice recognizable style and really has a lot of range between cute/simple and more complex or cool!! I only recently joined your community Discord and even though I'm a bit silly and talk a little too much everyone is really great! I also really appreciate the blob giveaways so us people with smaller budgets can get an opportunity to nab a design of yours. I wonder if the "hard to approach" thing is because there are some people that you obviously are buddies with (and tease/joke around or inside joke with a bit) so people feel like they're intruding when they aren't. And also because talented people can be hard to approach when you're a nervous person haha. So def don't take it to heart (I saw the /lh tone indicator but, y'know.) ^^

I’ve always wanted to tell you how much I look up to you not just art wise but how you’re able to interact with people, you’ve grown such a great community full of such sweet people I never knew how to talk with you and yet I ended up being able to call you a friend of mine and that makes me happy.
