Hello! ^_^ First of all thank you so much for creating this zine, I'm super excited about it! I'm considering applying as a writer but I've been wondering about that 2k complete work we need to submit, since the shortest work I've currently posted surpasses the limit, sadly 🙈 Before doing anything, I wanted to ask you if it would be fine to use an existing work we like of ours and to adapt it so it fits the 2k words and it's a complete story or if, in this case, we should write a new one to apply without problems. I hope it doesn't sound silly 🙈 Thank you so much <3

what if someone doesn’t have a complete fic under 2k or less. what if they are a little longer? all of my one-shots are 3-4k words long. can i submit that? would that make me disqualify? also, do we have to type the excerpt in the answer box or link a document or google drive?
Hi hi! We ask for works/excerpts of 2k words or less as samples to make sure writers can work within that limit (which will be the limit in the anthology).
The application form states, "Examples that are longer [than 2k words] will not be considered, and your application may be disqualified," which we absolutely don't want for you! So please make sure your samples qualify; you could write a new, shorter piece to apply, or trim/edit an older piece to fit the word limit. There's still time! :D
As for how to submit, links to Google Drive/Gdocs are fine!

Hi! By Your Side is an open theme Yoonkook anthology, and while we'll oversee the process and prompts/stories so that there is enough variety, we'll ultimately let each contributor decide what to write.

Hi! I have a little question about the examples we need to provide. You stated that they must be just up 2000 words long but with the example that needs to be completed do you mean it has to be a one-shot of less than 2k or that the extract should belong to a completed story (no matter the wordcount)? Thank you so much!!
Hi there!! What we mean is that one of your samples must be a complete one-shot with a word count of 2k words or less, and the rest can be excerpts from longer works. Thanks for your interest!

i was just wondering tho; since this zine doesn't have a theme, writers are allowed to write anything they want, right? (within the rules and guidelines, ofc). because as someone who's interested in buying this zine, but also in applying as a writer, i feel like that's a bit ambigious and makes me wonder what kind of themes and tropes could be in this (not in a bad way tho!!). is there a bit more info on this? thanks 💜💜

As of right now, we have it a bit more open-ended as this anthology is more so meant to celebrate writers and their fics, and having an open theme (within guidelines and rules like you mentioned!) allows them to create what they’re interested in! Maybe as a writer, you’re known for incredible worldbuilding AUs and you want to do that again! Or maybe a different writer loves writing domestic fluff, that’s an option as well!
More information will be finalized once the mod team has been officially assembled and applications for writers open, but as of right now, this is our plan! We just want to give a space for writers to just write YoonKook all different kinds of settings and worlds!!

We'll definitely talk with all of the mods about setting up an Instagram account if it works out, especially our social media mod!
