I haven’t watched Eurovision for years, but the last few times I did, I put on the BBC subtitles. Because it’s broadcast live, someone in an office somewhere is having to listen and frantically batter a keyboard at the same time and you end up with odd, lost in translation phrases exactly like these lyrics. The stock European techno music is a Eurovision standard, and the German accented voice only makes it sound more so. If someone played me the Eurovision entries, and this was in there, I think I’d be hard pushed to tell the difference.
