Should singers be able to sing songs they wrote and have backing vocals on at there concert? Even if that song is more known by a different singer?
I think singers can do what they want so long as they make it clear to their fans. That includes what they don't do, like not singling live, not writing the song and not singing without assistance (be that backing vocals or other technical assistance).
