What words have you pronounced the wrong way because you'd only read them and had never heard them at the time?

I used to pronounce "swap" like (sue-app) for a long time 'cause I thought it's the American pronunciation of the word.

There are sooo many, but these are the ones that come to mind now: Preface (pre-face) , beware (byou-er), vagina (vageena with a hard g), asymmetric (uhsymmetric), and my husband makes fun of me for pronouncing “iron” as eye-ron instead of I-earn, but I can’t fix it at this point.

A bunch of town names in Massachusetts when I first moved to New England - Like Billerica. It looks like it rhymes with America, so that's the way I said it, and the girl I was seeing put her arm around me and told me I was adorable. Apparently the e is silent there and it's three syllables
