Do your pokemon trainer ocs try to stick to a primary team of 6 pokemon or catch a bunch of them to rotate or just befriend?

Currently Fausto has 36 Pokémon that he occasionally rotates just based on who he’s gonna battle or who he thinks is the best for the terrain he’s going to be battling in
