Fausto plays into the whole Rival/Fire associated guy (i.e. Ken, Sol Badguy, and Hwoarang)
Meanwhile Balei is based on Capoeira fighters, mostly from Tekken cause I love that game (i.e. Eddy Gordo, Christine, and Elena)

Fausto's trains his Pokémon to use their own natural instincts during battles while also periodically giving commands when he deems it necessary. Plays into his 'whole wanting to be free but also scared of losing any control of a situation' thing

I’ve talked abou my Fausto BITING metal but one thing I forgot to mention is that he’s fully capable of eating it too due to his strong stomach

At the beginning of Fausto’s journey all his Pokémon are more like flatmates, living together but doing separate things. It’s only later they start getting closer and becoming more threatening in battles because they become so well coordinated, they will wombo combo someone

Either a) a deep meaningful story with symbolism written almost everywhere or b) a silly lil oc with a cheerful fun design, both of these are usually based on a Monster Hunter monster and/or a Song that I found and said “This would be a cool character personality.”
