Kind......of? It's still very sketchy bc I haven't been able to sit down and really make a plot outline. :') i have a hard time writing stories unless I know the ending, and to know the ending I need to figure out where I want the character arcs to go. For this AU, I'm trying to not make it too much like the canon-verse storyline but it keeps mirroring it in a lot of ways sdfglgklh;

Horse girl au with snazzy rodeo wolfwood and his big ass American quater horse mare named Angelina.
But also vash liberty riding with a herd of recue horses of differeint breeds and a shetland whos allowed in the house.all the horses have verying names from buttercup to chicken nugget.
And nai being a professional dressage and show jumper with his most pure breed blue ribbon gold medal winning horses with fancy names, pride and joy being a pure white lipzzaner named Anastasia...

In your AU - are Vash and Nai sexless, or is that just a choice for your art ;) bc both are fun ideas. I'm totally on team kniveswood for this au I think the vibes there would be so fun. A completely unrelated note as well, but my heart hurts a bit for knives being paired with a human he doesn't like
They're (technically) intersex! but in the alien-fantasy-scifi kinda way, and they can have multiple gender representations. most prefer female but after humans arrived on their planet, they were like 'oh! your kind has other options? this sounds fun!' and more gender stuff got kinda mixed into the culture) kinda like how the gems in steven universe are all agender but they present female, i guess?? I'll work out more of their biology at some point, but for now I'm still leaving some details vague on purpose.

In your royalty space AU, what does Nai think of his bonded human (you mentioned it's Legato)?
So I'm currently still working it over in my brain, but I think they WERE friends as children, but after Events Happen, Nai just becomes more and more of a manipulator and has this hatred for certain humans (there's two sects of them in this AU).
When he and Legato are teens, he knows Legato likes him romantically, so he uses this to his advantage to manipulate Legato to do what he wants. Mind links don't allow actual physical control, but imagine having someone like Nai in your head all the time. 😭
I don't want Nai to be a "villain" exactly though, like he still thinks he's the hero of the story despite how he treats others.

I was wondering if the twin’s species is more like a bird or feline, or if they have any kind of non-human instincts? Do they purr or chirp? Are there any cat or bird-like mannerisms? (grooming or preening, etc)

They're kind of both, but leaning more cat-like! Since the twins are half-human, they have more hair than feathers (full angels have feathers for hair). They also purr/chirp/mrrp?/hiss/growl and make sounds that are too high a frequency for human ears. Preening is common for wings when they're out, and it's a good social bonding practice. Vash likes his head petted too; he'll start purring uncontrollably.

I'ma be honest, I'm not 100% sure how to define their relationship in this AU LOL Meryl has been a little in love with him her whole life, but Vash is aro/ace-spec and I'm still working out what his feelings for her are. I do think they lean more romance, but as kids/teens, it's pretty platonic.

ah yes! mainly the world building! it's /kind of/ based off of an original novel I tried to write 3 years ago but couldn't ever get the plot right. but it had an alien boy and a human girl who were mind linked as kids. i still really like that idea in general and thought it'd work for this kinda trigun AU!
