Feel free to ask me anything about Briar (:
| Icon: fungikoi ♡
🔄The previous ask was pretty well received ^o^ so now time for the reverse: Give me a quote on how your oc's ace pokemon would describe their trainer (if they could talk).
Give me a quote on how one of your pokemon ocs would describe their ace pokemon when talking about them to other trainers. ^0^
Briar (about Talonflame):
"He's very dependable. Not only I count on him for every day things, but my entire team also looks up to him like their leader. I'm never worried about danger because I know he's always near and he's ready for anything. I mean, what else there is to expect from my chosen ace?"
What are some major inspirations when making your ocs?
I create OCs based on the stories I want to tell so most of the time I don't have any "original" inspiration for them HAHA I'm just a storyteller so sometimes the idea of an OC comes to my mind and I work from that. After that, sometimes I end up taking inspiration for characters I like/that align with that OC for future inspiration, but all my OCs are almost never inspired by anything in particular lolol
How do your oc's pokemon interact with each other on the team? ^o^
There's some sort of hierarchy in Briar's team and they interact based on that...
Talonflame is considered by the others as the leader of the team, not only because he's Briar's ace but because he has a very responsible and respectable personality! Houndoom is considered the right-hand-man or second-in-command, he's also the brawn or the muscle of the team because, unlike the rest, he was actually trained with Pokémon Battles in mind. Charizard is the third on the list, because despite not being a very great leader or a super intimidating Pokémon, he's one of the oldest members in the team so they respect him for that... He's the brain of the team hehe. These three are part of Briar's original team in Kalos so they're the big three, the "Victory Trio".
The rest of the team (Chandelure, Volcarona and Nickit) are not part of the "Big Three" so they're more like followers. Although Nickit got a reputation of her own because despite being the youngest, her spoiled and princess-like personality lets her get away with everything bad she does lol When she causes mischief and makes someone else angry, she goes to Houndoom and gives him puppy eyes so he protects her from any Pokémon LOL
What would your oc choose as their last meal?
What did your oc study in university/college (if they went)?
Briar has quite the Academic experience! She graduated high school earlier than usual (because she skipped grades), and she studied Biology in Kalos. :) She then studied Engineering in Paldea and traveled back to Kalos to get a PhD in Synthetic Pokémon Biology!
I like to think that during her first years in Galar she also studied something that had to do with Programming lol so she's been studying most of her life (which is something she likes, she's very academia-driven)
What's the song that will get your oc to go all out in karaoke?
How does rosegold spend their days off?
!! Depending on the day, they would do different things. They usually go out on dates to any local theater in Wyndon to watch any play, and maybe they would also go out to eat dinner at a fancy restaurant.
If it's on the weekend, they enjoy outdoor activities like golfing at some private club they're part of. They're both very competitive so it's not weird to see them challenging each other to see who's better. (:
Another thing they love to do is go shopping, although their tastes in brands and shops are rather expensive LOL
How does your oc feel about their job?
Briar is very content with her job. One of her dreams after graduating college was to have her own lab, and throughout the years she could never have a lab that she could properly manage on her own until now. And she also likes the power and control that comes with the title of 'Director of Macro Cosmos Labs'.
And she's also very happy with her idol career, even if she's not an active performer any longer, she knows she can go back whenever she wants to. She just likes that she can be both a scientist and an idol at the same time.
For the longest time in her life, Briar lived in a way that made her think she could only 'choose' between her two passions: science and music. She was either Team Flare's Commander and head scientist, or she was just a theater actress in Unova. While she enjoyed both jobs to an extent, she didn't feel fulfilled because she missed her other passion, but couldn't find a way to perform that job in the position she was in back then. However, in Galar she got to be both the Director of Macro Cosmos Labs and also an idol, she doesn't need to choose between the two and she didn't know she could live life this way, so she's very happy with her job situation at the moment.
who is the one person your oc wants to apologize to, but can't (for some reason or the other).
Briar would like to apologize to Lysandre for not doing enough for Team Flare. She's always plagued by the 'If I had done a little bit more, it wouldn't have gone wrong' mentality, and is the reason why she pushes herself to the limit nowadays. But she can't apologize to him because he's, well, dead. She wants to apologize for letting him die.
What is the most difficult pokemon your oc has tried to train?
For Briar it was definitely Charizard, because he was a bit shy and felt bad about burning targets to train or defeat other Pokémon so Briar really had to work with his personality in order to train him.
I'd say that Chandelure was also a bit difficult to train because he didn't fully obey Briar at first, but eventually he started obeying and it was smooth sailing from there.
What are your favorite character design tropes?
What does your oc like about themselves? Conversely, what do they want to change about themselves if anything?
If asked, Briar would say that she likes everything about herself and that she truly is the peak of human evolution.
But sometimes she wishes she could be a little better at cooking. Certainly most of the time she doesn't mind because she could eat outside or hire a chef, but sometimes she wishes she knew how to cook to make things for Leon when he was younger every once in a while.
What habits did your ocs pick up from their parents? (or guardians)
