Thoughts on Lia Thomas (trans swimmer who was ranked 462nd as a man) winning the woman's national swimming championship?

The result of a typical error of categories. The fact that there are men and women classes in sports is not due to gender but due to the types of body. A female body even when highly trained on average has less muscles and a less capable circulation than the average male body. It is about body structure, not gender. That those structures have been associated with gender was a convenient label but not the reason for those classes, hence your gender actually doesn't fully qualify you for either class. In motor racing you once could have argued that the size of the motor was indicative of power and therefore the measure for the class you would be racing in. But the size was once only a convenient label indicating power, not a real power measurement. You could as well use the clothing as a selector for competitive class: Those with the skirts to the left, those with the trousers to the right, and the Scots will win the weight lifting among the skirt class. LOL. Sports reflect society's failures and prejudices much longer than any other conservative body or social group. LOL.
