I do not expect a hot dog sausage to contain meat, so it may be called vegan too. But cheese is made from milk and that milk is from an animal. Vegan options that mimic that cheese could be called vegan-cheese in oder to make it clear that it is not cheese but a lookalike. Same applies for bacon. Otherwise you could also call ground assorted left over pills flour, simply because it resembles the look of flour.
